Afterpay is an Australian financial technology company operating globally, The team at Afterpay needed an EVP and employer brand to match the vibrancy of the new consumer identity. At the same time, the brand needed to be a unique visual representation, showcasing the company’s culture and offer a true point of difference in the job market. In collaboration with the brilliant team at Your Creative, we conceptualised, designed and developed this virtually, during a lockdown!
Circle In are a technology start-up with big credentials, working globally to support 86,000+ families and carers within leading organisations including Estee Lauder Companies, Coca-Cola Amatil, Culture Amp, Universal Music and ARUP.
With a core value of "Love People", founders, Kate Pollard & Jodi Geddes were keen to ensure that their people were instrumental in shaping their culture, flexible work approach and ways of working as they continued to scale globally. We were so proud to codesign this with the Circle In team.
Kate Pollard said "Recently, we decided to hold some focus groups with our team and the amazing Gemma Saunders to better understand their needs as we head into the new year and a 'new normal'. These sessions were incredible, not only helping us understand our team better, but also allowing us to see where their strengths lie.
In having these honest and supportive discussions, we've been able to map out the best way forward for our team, where they can be their happiest, engaged and most productive.
In helping our team to have a better/more flexible work-life balance, we've created a business where our team want to be - not because they have to, but because they want to. A workplace that truly loves their team, and where they love coming to work!"
Words by Alexis Wood. Collaborating with Gems and Workplace Edit as an organisation at Koala, and also on a personal level, was our first step into all things DEIB. We embarked on this journey with open minds and open hearts but with a real need to define our direction, make it tangible and come up with a unique framework that linked back to the core of what we do and who we are. Our goal was to hardwire and embed diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging into our strategies, plans, policies and practices. We aimed to go beyond internal walls by considering the impact on employees, their families, customers, society and the planet. While the intention and passion were always there, Gems guided us on a real journey to truly understand what DEIB meant for us — making it unique and specific to our brand and purpose. To date, we have really shaped our DEIB goals into our everyday ways of working. Using our framework as a lens for strategies and decisions across the organisation. Our teams commit to quarterly actions in the DEIB space, creating an overall more inclusive, equitable and considered space both physically and digitally and in the way we operate as a business both internally and externally. This experience has taught me a few major things.
I can't thank Gems enough for her guidance, support and mentorship and I am excited for the friendship we have formed and to work together again in the future!
